not really, but i was wondering how far into a cave wall you can mine without causing a cave-in or is it just random? i want to try my hand at mining but i dont want to risk killing myself if it can be avoided

I've seen it reported by multiple people that caveins now only deal SHP damage. Not sure if you have to worry about dying anymore, if that's a bug or what.

that is good to know, but will i be at risk of cave-ins if i mine into the first tile? second? should i just mine one tile out of the wall and move on to another spot? no idea how cave-ins work. its good that i dont have to worry about dying since it is shp which i believe is the heal over time portion of health but i dont want to clean up after a cave-in either

I haven't caused any cave in's yet. but my buddy has consistently caused cave in's on his first wall, massive ones at that, chasing you down the hall while you run away hopeing he's still alive under all that.

I don't know if it's luck related, but I've seen 3 huge cave in's and they all were from the main wall of the cave, we were too weak to even remove the cave in debris
This game really needs a great sword...

Caveins are lenient as all derp these days.

Caveins are entirely deterministic. There is no randomness to it whatsoever.

I heard a story that some guy had some bats actually spawn on him. Not sure how true that is but if so caves are still really dangerous if so.

Stop mining when debris starts falling.

Sorry, but this is wrong, our group was under the same assumption, we worked to it, but we still have the odd cave in. So much for new theories :/
