Help me understand Food Effenciency Hunger Level

Postby CaptainMidget » Sat Sep 05, 2015 6:50 am

So, I understand where you begin at 300%, eat enough and go to 200%, 100%, 50%, etc... But why are a majority of the people that have high stats at 50% food efficiency? Wouldn't getting 3x the stats from food which then requires you to only eat ~2 of a certain food to get a stat point be better? Whats the general safe hunger efficiency level?

It would seem that hunger comes back more slowly at more efficient levels

which would mean it make more sense to just eat until full (50%). this is the assumption ive been playing on

however jorb posted something about variance bonus being less at higher levels of hunger. which I tbh I dont think I fully understand but could be a big deal.

you can be off line a whole day at 300% and recover like 8% of the bar. you can log off at stuffed 10% for a day and log back into 100% or low 50%. so you end up getting more stats with more food by eating up to stuffed each day. but if food is a problem, then you should starve yourself to 200%, 300% takes too long to decay to.
This game really needs a great sword...

I've been playing VERY casually the last week (too much time on forums) and haven't really left the 100-90% range. I've had it fall back down to the 200 range a couple of times if I can't get logged back on, but I just can't seem to grind enough to eat enough to get past the 90%. I have just figured if I eat what I make as I make it (or at least need to fill energy up), then stats will be fine. Now that the farm is starting up, we'll see.

I understand the fullest is 25%, not 50, but not gotten there, so don't know who's right (seen both values on the forum). If you can produce food fast enough, you can still eat, just at that penalty.

It depends on whether food or time is your limiting factor, I guess. If you have plenty of food then by all means burn through it. If you have less you'll get more for each unit. The idea is to have a system that rewards your particular playstyle.

you misunderstood me I think. full = 50% food efficiency

basically the levels are

300% - 200% - 100% - 90% - 50% - (25%?)

going from 90% back to 100% takes less time than going from 100% to 200% and so forth.

only time builds hunger, you can't increase it manually like old haven.

if food efficiency is just a bonus to the FEP value recieved, wording could be better. "food value bonus" or something.

300% - 200% - 100% - 90% - 50% - 25% - 10% - ???

It took 15 min to get 25% from 10%, about 1 hour to get 50% from 25% and about 8 hours to get 90% from 50%

good info. would like to see someone test food variance bonus as different hunger levels because:

It's still there. It is, however, affected by food efficacy (Not straight up, but it is reduced at the higher fullness levels).

atm I'm mostly just eating @90% until 50%, but I imagine as my game time runs dry, I will end up stockpiling and waiting to use 200%.

I think there's a 0% below the 10%. I have heard you become unable to eat foods at all at 0%, but I'm not sure if those reports are correct. (Source was a traveler who ran for hours and hours with a water bucket in hand, hence ridiculous energy drain.)
