New Foods(Variable Foods)

Postby atrey4u » Wed Feb 08, 2017 4:14 am

How do the new foods work like Nutjerky, Fishwrap, Fruitroast.
I know it says "Made from" on it and that seems to affect the value of FEPs produced by said food but I've noticed an oddity.
Say I am making Nut Jerky which traditionally gives 2 STR, 1 CHA, 1 WIL FEPs, and I make it with Chestnuts(STR) and Boar Meat(STR).
The resulting food is NOT 3-4 STR, 1 CHA, 1 WIL. It's actually totally different and LOW on the STR side.
I made one today because my strength is low doing said recipe above and it had literally .90 STR on the FEPs.
Has anyone else noticed this and is there something I'm doing wrong?
Sorry I didn't post screenshots to support this but I had already eaten the food and not familiar with posting images on the forum yet.
Any information would help out greatly thank you very much guys

P.S. This should go for any food with a "Made from" variable in it. are they bugged?

The feps of said food that contributed to the recipe don't necessarily pass over, i.e. Mammoth Meat carries over Charisma in many recipes and Carrots give Dexterity. If you are trying to get str, however, I'm pretty sure Rose Hips contribute str to the recipe.

Interesting, maybe we should make a list of the ingredients? Or is this variable totally random?

I haven't found any foods that don't follow a single trend but I wouldn't be surprised if there was a few that effected different recipes differently, such as Meatpie and Butcher's Surprise.

It's food dependent. I think putting variable materials on each food wikipage is best.

for example:

I agree, however no one seems to want to do it. =/
Either that or they seem to post the information here instead.

Add to it that people post screenshots with no tags or other data that can be searched easily. Thus, if it doesn't get there right away, it is likely lost unless someone really wants to dig.

Straight up if someone gives me a format to follow for recording the data efficiently, I will start testing variables like right now.

There is no format that I've seen. There may be some formula to how it's done with the bases, but I can't see one in the foods I've seen so far.

Also: we have a discussion about the wiki. viewtopic.php?f=42&t=42391&start=230#p716603 Any input is helpful. Any further information or if anyone finds old screenies would be great if they're linked here or the wiki thread.
