Most traders either use barter stands these days or special systems for trading so it is safer. When using a barter stand, you simply bring the goods, and items are automatically dispensed from the stand when you trade, much like an NPC vendor in any other game. When looking to trade larger items or items that don't go into a barter stand, a lot of traders use secure methods that protect both themselves, and the customer. A shed with glass keys is popular.
The hard part is getting goods to/from market these days.
