Is It Worth Building a Brickwall If You Mostly Play Solo?

Postby danielsiebert » Mon Jun 01, 2026 7:54 am

I've been playing solo this world and finally reached the point where I could start gathering materials for a brickwall.
The thing is, it feels like a huge investment of time and resources, and I'm not sure if it's actually worth it for a small hermit base. Most of what I read about defenses seems aimed at larger villages.
For those of you who play alone or in very small groups, did building a brickwall make a noticeable difference? Or would that time be better spent improving other parts of my character and base first?

brick walls are overpowered when abused correctly, but you are not going to abuse them correctly.

0-2 hermits have been actively sieged in the last 5 years. Nobody is coming for you. You might get a different impression from the forum, but that's just crusty gamer dads that want to feel accomplished for achieving something in a "hardcore" environment, but would fold in 2 second flat in an actual PVP game, so they delude themselves into feeling haven is spooky.

Your base is safe. Do whatever's fun
