Did I say that? I said it was not the goal of DayZ, which it isn't. Words of the lead dev, DayZ is designed to trigger emotional experiences and stories. Playing as a deathmatch is counterproductive. Killing in DayZ is supposed to make you feel bad. Playing exclusively to kill while trying to avoid those feels is ass-backwards.

When I still played DayZ, my friends and I moved in groups of two or three. A sniper is overwatch so we can have those interesting interactions (holdups, arrests, executions, larpy shit etc) without being interrupted. A lot of that involves finding other snipers and trying to predict where people are and what their intentions are, which is hard.
