For those who are wondering who was involved and why: Former "Sodom" which now consists of people from a lot more different factions (Bottleneck, EC and more) and should have its own name lost a forager to Zox due to very unlucky circumstances. He was just in the middle of nowhere when Zox walked on screen and killed him. Apparently Zox regards territory 1 or 2 hours away from his base as his own and sees people on it as an immediate threat. A somewhat weird policy for a trader if you ask me, but so be it.
Our first thought to get revenge was of course to kill him, but he was like 5 or 6 hours away from our town so the thought of constantly travelling that far just to randomly find him outside was swept off the table pretty quickly. Instead we figured out where his clay spot was hidden and stole a full load from that. It regenerates within 8 hours so we thought no big harm done, but a fair reparation payment nontheless.
A day later Zox stands at our gate and I told him via Skype to stay calm and told my guys to stand down for now, till I got the chance to talk to him after I'd be home from work. Turns out that was a silly idea. He pretty much told me to either pay 50$ for the clay/100$ for unlimited access or he declares war on us. I admit I kinda baited him into getting the rmt stuff on tape, we could have also paid a gazillion gold bars instead (Turns out Jorb didn't care much about the chat logs I sent him, but I do understand that he doesn't want to act on such a vague evidence alone).
Zox then told me he would get serious allies involved and this would be a real war and whatnot, so naturally we decided to ask around for help too. LoS came to mind because I have known Arvin, Oddity and some others for several worlds and have played alongside them before. I may not be the biggest fan of some of their new members, but it seemed like a good choice nontheless

Well so turns out they had their own bone to pick with Zox and that is how the opening post came into being. There were others involved too but I will leave it up to them to tell their story here or rather stay in the background.
Edit: Oh yeah and sieges are of course super boring in general right now, but I really think our little band of raiders made it worthwhile. Playing "Guess the tune", checkers and frog race with you guys was fun
