Horrible perfomance on Linux

Postby romovs » Sat Aug 29, 2015 1:53 am

I am getting 90% cpu utilization (most of the time it's 100% when actually doing something) and the client is nearly unusable - can barely move, sound choppy as hell, etc. Often it just hangs and needs to be killed.

That's just the client running with all the video enhancements disabled and nothing else
This on a mid-range mobile i5 Sandy Bridge CPU from 2013 (Intel Graphics 3000).
The situation is slightly better on a desktop i5 Haswell, but still almost unusable.
Played a bit with JVM settings, but no dice..

Anyone had any luck running on Linux?

Also on Linux
I have a Geforce 210 (512mb)
and an AMD Athlon X2 Dual Core BE-2400 @ 2.3GHz
and 4GB Ram ddr2

So yeah not an high end pc but i thought it should work :/
While it runs more or less the performance does not make fun (and no its not serverlagg)
(edit which distro? jre?openjdk?)
I tried both the official Jre and the openjdk

I am on Fedora. Latest Oracle JRE - 1.8.0_60. Haven't tried OpenJDK but it's probably would be even worse.

It's the stupid flavour objects. Turning them of drops the utilization by half
