I don't know if this is a bug or not, but apparently my party mates appear on the map but they're not there. Is this related to Charisma or just a bug?
It's happened twice now, and it happened on two different people within my village.

I believe it's a bug. I've ran into it many times. Not sure what causes it.

Is this different from the issue where you form a party with someone on the other side of the World and instead of the game placing a map-accurate marker on their location, one is placed only several minimap grids away from you in the direction of the party member?

That one is intended or at least a justifiable workaround to restrict people from using exact party member map locations to figure out the World Map within hours of server reset or something?

Yes, this is the same issue. I've gone over to where the person is "supposed to be" on the minimap, but there's no one there.
The thing is, it only happened after a few hours, when my friend went over to do some viking stuff on a faraway place. Just a few map grids away from us (about 10).

I do recall that one of our party members weren't in close proximity when he was added to the party, this might've been the cause, no?

If they're far from you and they don't move, their minimap/map location won't update properly. Ask them to move a bit as you approach them, to update their location
