Cave Hermit credo soft-locked behind Rage

That's neither a critique nor an idea so I'm leaning towards deeming this a Bug.

Cave Hermit credo repeatedly asks me to study Dark Effigy that is unobtainable solo without purchasing the Rage skill that in w16.1 prohibits passing throuh gates while in combat and therefore is quite undesirable.

There can be arguments:
1. Drop the quest;
2. Trade for an Effigy;

Counter-arguments:
1. The quest appeared several times so it's really unfair compared to all the other credos in their relation to required actions NOT being locked behind such a dividing skill as Rage;
2. Trading would require interaction with a player that, inherent to the trade subject, would most likely have Rage; Cave Hermit credo has "hermit" in it's name; so no, trading is an unfair option as well.

TL;DR

Cave Hermit credo sets up unfair requirement to either acquire Rage or to interact with people with Rage contrary to the very nature of a Cave Hermit.
please fix.

2019
  • implement an incentive to not buy rage
  • massively nerf fast travel
  • spawn everybody on different continents
  • a million edge cases where not having rage is annoying for regular players
  • a million edge cases that makes not having rage INSANELY OP and unfun in PVP
  • noobs dying because they unknowingly buy rage
  • shitters not engaging with PVP in spite of interest because buying rage permanently """ruins""" their character
  • titan rageless chars make sieges absurd
  • faction conflict boring, and exceptionally rare
  • when there are fights, they're low quality and full of rageless fighters
  • nobody tracks criminals, takes too long to travel / everybody spread out
  • no major markets
  • universally hated world

2020
  • remove incentive to not buy rage
  • massively buff fast travel
  • spawn everybody on the same continent
  • regular faction fights 3-4 months into the world
  • criminals regularly tracked
  • way more new players and shitters involved in faction fights
  • multiple large markets
  • universally beloved world

2026
  • implement an incentive to not buy rage
  • massively nerf fast travel
  • spawn everybody on different continents
  • literally 1:1 ALL of the same issues as 2019, not a single thing fixed or lesson learned

I'm just pointing out the inconsistency. In my opinion, Cave Hermit shouldn't get quests implying the necessity of not being hermit-y. Or cave-y for that matter, there's a reason most questgivers for that credo are buried deep down on lower cave levels and are not orange trees beachfront.

Yeah, as things stand, I suppose Dark Effigy should be removed from the quest list. Or perhaps lots of other curiosities should be implemented, so that the Dark Effigy comes up less often.

I think this is more an artifact of W16.1 being an experiment. It's not obvious to me that cave hermits shouldn't have to learn Rage as a matter of course. But there is, more generally, a greater inconsistency between the developers' apparent desire -- or perhaps concession to the 'remove PvP' crowd -- to make Rage a defining characteristic of 'hostile' hearthlings, and the developers' philosophy that the game cannot meaningfully distinguish between 'hostile' and 'peaceful' actions.

I believe the reason for this inconsistency is because without this half-way attempt to distinguish between hostile and peaceful players, everyone would be subject to the more or less egregious unfairness between competitive NEETs and casual farmers. It seems the developers (wrongly) imagine that using Rage as a method of 'opting in' to PvP means they don't have to address the fundamental inequality (in stats, gear, infrastructure) that develops between players in the long term, with respect to combat relations.

If only there were some way to address this inequality! ;)
