Linux: No Mouse Cursor

Postby waylon531 » Sat Aug 29, 2015 5:56 pm

The mouse cursor only appears occasionally, then disappears right away. I am running arch linux and I have tried both openjdk and oracle jdk 8. I have a radeon hd7950 and the open-source drivers. A possible solution for this would be to add a graphics option to use the system cursor.

Thanks for the report. Loftar uses linux so it's more system specific than that. May get fixed.

The mouse cursor now flashes with the text cursor. Whenever you click off of the chat box both of the cursors disappear (the mouse cursor still occasionally flashes).

I have the same problem, which means that I cannot play at all.

I use Ubuntu 14.04LTS

I also have a similar problem on Linux with a Radeon HD 6870. Cursor is invisible (in "tex" mode at least), UI elements are flashing and terrain isn't rendered (but objects are), also runs at <1 fps. The console is spamming this:
EE ../../../../../../src/gallium/drivers/r600/r600_shader.c:2599 r600_shader_from_tgsi - GPR limit exceeded - shader requires 126 registers
EE ../../../../../../src/gallium/drivers/r600/r600_shader.c:160 r600_pipe_shader_create - translation from TGSI failed !
EE ../../../../../../src/gallium/drivers/r600/r600_state_common.c:821 r600_shader_select - Failed to build shader variant (type=1) -12

Works fine with Intel HD 4000 graphics, though.

I solved it by both updating the drivers of my graphic card, and getting the last version of java (8). The cursor is back, and it stays like this, but it feels... laggy. Not laggy, as it moves smoothly, but slower than it should. It is not because of lower sensibility, as it moves as far as it should, it just gets there later than my hand does, which makes the game pretty annoying and barely unplayable, specially if you have to manage a lot of items in your inventory (which, well, you always have to do), and I'm a forager, which means that picking items it's like a nightmare for me.

I'm seriously thinking about switching back to windows...

Check to see if triple buffering is enabled. That can cause input lag if frame rates are at mid to low levels (below ~30fps).

You could try commenting out line 77 in HavenPanel.java - https://github.com/dolda2000/hafen-clie ... l.java#L77
It will make cursor image ugly as hell but at least it will move with normal speed.

I will end up switching to windows only because of how clumsy I am on linux...

Where do I find the hafen files? I run the game through the autohaven file and I haven't seen any folder with files related to the game at all. I suppose it would be somewhere on a bin, or usr folder, but I cannot find it. I used the command find and it couldn't retrieve any file with that name. Any idea?
