Quality

Postby LadyV » Fri Oct 02, 2015 8:00 am

Alright I have used the system enough to have an issue with the quality system. I have no idea whats going wrong but I will list the things I have seen.

1) While farming I have seen crops drop well beyond the range we have been told. The one that stick in mind was going from q18 to 8 in one generation. Something is wrong ere.

2) Chickens in coops degrade in quality even when given food that is higher in all three parts of food are above their q.

3) When i was traveling to join with friends i was off for some time due to illness. The seeds in my inventory degraded in quality from what they were when i placed them there.

4) Finally with friends I helped harvest pumpkins and stored them in a purely pumpkin stockpile. Now with the changes to quality they were all the same except for a few that were higher. Well later I return to get some pumpkins out and guess what? They had qualities all over the board I had some jump 20 points in one category and others drop across the spectrum.

As I said i have no idea whats going on but please address it. Id much rather have the old system that works than this.

2) Did you check by taking fodder out of the coop using bucket to confirm real fodder quality?

When you completely load a coop with fresh food and you know the qualities going in why should you test what it is? If quality drops after I place it in that's still a game issue.

I have no idea whats making qualities vary so wildly.

rounding down. If you have 100 units of q 10 fodder and put in 1 unit od q 9 food then the whole fodder in coop will be rounded down to 9.
If you have 100 units of q 10 fodder and put in 100 units of q 90 food, 1 by 1, then whole fodder will be rounded to q 10 after each item is placed, and it will stay q 10

Which is bullshit. Server should remember fractions or total q placed or whatever so it can properly round up when enough higher q food is put in there.

Indeed feeding is now annoying. If i have Q15 food i can`t risk adding there Q10 clovers, cause they will spoil all the food, no matter the proportion.

Did you have enough farming skill when planting the seed?

2) Chickens in coops degrade in quality even when given food that is higher in all three parts of food are above their q.

There is a megathread on the subject.

3) When i was traveling to join with friends i was off for some time due to illness. The seeds in my inventory degraded in quality from what they were when i placed them there.

There is no mechanic that should or could cause this. Seeds piles in inventories are inert.

4) Finally with friends I helped harvest pumpkins and stored them in a purely pumpkin stockpile. Now with the changes to quality they were all the same except for a few that were higher. For the last two I unfortunately have to say that I suspect that you are simply misremembering the numbers. I have seen nothing like it reported by anyone else, and there is, again, nothing in the game code that should cause this even by way of malfunction.

Although I can remember suspecting stockpiles have some influence on quality, I did not test this intentionally and can not confirm...

Crops Q might be also affected by soil Q - isn't it?

Fodder rounding system is BS...

No Im not. The value I used an example was 18 when I harvested. When i collected from stockpile later it became 38 and the other values dropped to 8. And they were all over q10 originally.

I have no idea whats going on but it has happened.
