You dont have enough tanning fluid.
Fill tub with some more tanning fluid and they will finish almost instantly.

Shubla has it right. Not a bug per se.

Could use an error message as having fluid in the tub isn't indicative of the problem. Better idea might be to just let it finish as long as any showing and "assuming" there's some extra fluid in the bottom because you can't tan a cow hide with a couple cm of fluid in your tub. Keep it at needing 50 L of fluid to fill or even 20 L as part of the build recipe (if you can prevent consuming the buckets, maybe).

I disagree, there should still be enough for them to complete - just not enough to start new ones.

The leather needs to be submerged.

When arguing with realism: Then I want reproductive organs on the characters.

Also the hides have been submerged all the time, till about <5ns before they stalled: when the prior hide turned into leather.

Its not about realism, its because it has been this way for years.
Just because someone is too lazy to add some extra tanning fluid doesn't mean it has to be changed.
And they clearly haven't been submerged for the last few seconds, otherwise they would've been finished.

The moment a hide turns into leather the fluid level sinks.
The hides get shift-clicked into the tubs, so they arrive at the same time, they also end on the exact same moment.
The server just processes them in a serialized fashion, thus I came up with the <5us.

And since a single big hide works while 4 small ones don't I call it a bug, hence my request to change that so that 99% ones will complete even if fluid level is low. No need to call me lazy for this.

You know, I think one reason this is coming up more than in legacy is simply that the water in the tub is much less visible. Maybe something could be done with that?
