I'm not sure I see this as a bug as a player. I might be able to use this to my advantage to make a better quality cornucopia. As of now, I think I can safely say that it is intended that Apple Pies, at least, count as a "generic fruit" as this would have to be explicitly coded in.

Note: this isn't unusual in Haven. I think the only reason they took away the ability to use Hardened Leather to make Hardened Leather was to eliminate very high quality armor that was the result. Be sure that any items that might count as generic are the ones you want before crafting. This is what the highlighting is for.

When crafting multiple pieces of hardened leather you would use the last piece you just crafted towards the next one which is what I think caused them to change that after some complaining, I don't think there was ever a thing where hardened leather would be used to craft better hardened leather because the regular leather pieces you could make were always better quality.

No, they specifically allowed this by adding the "crack and soften" option to hardened leather, allowing you to spiral your leather up with wax.

Im quite sure that the crafting thingy looks for word "apple" on item. And applepie obivously has the word "apple" in it. So it will think that its fruit.

Yeah, maybe I'm wrong and they only changed it because it was the first real opportunity to go through and recode it. Maybe it was just coincidental that we had the discussion about spiraling hardened leather a short time before that, though, when xcom figured out the old beehive mechanics. Things that make you go "hmmm..."

(s)He has even drawn big ass red circle around two bread bits. Indicating that it didnt use apple pies as bread at least.
