Silkmoths always appear as Female Silkmoth on the minimap

Silkmoths always appear as Female Silkmoth on the minimap

Silkmoths always appear on the minimap as "Female Silkmoth", but when I catch them, they can result in both Male and Female Silkmoths.

I use the Ender client, in case this is a client-specific issue.

Well, there's a minor but explicit point that you shouldn't know that before you catch it.

I feel like attempting to fix this might end up with ruby dragonflies being exposed on the minimap, too.

I doubt the game even decides the sex until after the first time it is caught

I thought about the same, but I was not sure if obfuscating their gender this way was intended or just an oversight. It felt weird that it is called a Female Silkmoth instead of just... Silkmoth, if it wants its gender to be hidden.

Absolutely solid reason. Still, maybe the icon could be a mix between male and female versions, not an explicitly female one?

I noticed the same thing, I thought males were super rare for awhile. I'm under the impression this is ender client specific though?

So when you implemented male/female rabbits you were going against your very strongly held developer principles? Sad!

It's not.

Not sure why they aren't just "silkmoth" unless something about the way labels are done in code forces it.

+1

maybe we should have male and female mouflon, boars, and aurochs, too?
