Logged in and checked it out, and something is indeed strange with fablewings' animals. Tamed bull can be hitched to rope, but cannot then be hitched to post. Freshly built post or magically spawned post makes no difference. On or off claim makes no difference.
If anyone else has this problem I'd love to hear about it. Edited OP title.

My friend across my claim tried it and he can't leash his bull either now. Hopefully it's just us.

Ok, that makes me suspect that loftar broke something while fixing that bug recently.
