Hmm, I guess phpBB tries to authenticate with its built-in password, which isn't set since it normally uses external authentication against Haven instead. Not immediately sure how to remedy. I'll have to think about it.

Same way as you changed it for password changes (as these seem to work and use the same input field for verification of the current password)?
