- I do agree that checking a cave is a must in a full-loot one-death PvP game.
- I also agree that visitor gates should not be used for combat in any way, their intention is to prevent grief only.
Therefore I believe that there is an issue with possible setting of a trap - be it a cave or any other map instance change, using a vgate.
- It's up for developers to decide how to fix this issue, but a fix is needed.

I would be personally very upset if I would suffer a PvP loss in such an abusive manner - to not be able to retaliate or run away is a terrible, antifun and unintended game mechanic.
It should be also noted that other party was fully aware of the mechanism they were preparing - i.e. that victim would be helpless, waiting to be downed and looted.

A judgement on this case would show devs attitude to general kind of abusing unintentional game mechanic, rather important question for our small and stable community.

As for me - I am a simple guy, voting with my wallet.
I wont use Store until devs make a decision on this, i.e. combat usage of visitor gates.

Please keep discussion civil and on track. This is is pure https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad_hominem - in does not matter where one is living, if he is a sprucecap, a faction member or a hermit.
What matters is - our, players, opinion on using visitor gates for combat. Should it be allowed? Is it a wise trap or an abuse? Why do you think so?
I've stated my points above. I would not like to participate in this kind of PvP from neither sides, because:
a) It allows potentially to keep a player in combat for unreasonably long periods of time, i.e. griefing.
b) It leaves no counter-play - there is no equipment, magic, stat or ability in the game that would allow you to escape such trap as a single character.
c) It ruins the intended mechanic behind Visitor Gates debuff - being a defensive tool of protection from grief, not an offensive one.

There are several potential fixes - such as being able to attack items or walls from within to escape, but that would ruin the purpose of grief protection tool in the first place.
I don't have deep enough understanding to analyse potential issues of forcing a noclaim/nobuild zone around instance change points.
I also believe that spirit of rules lay above letter - as you can't describe each and every single abuse in advance. Using an abuse to get in-game advantage without notifying admins - i.e. black hat hacking should not be a welcome thing.

I also suggest to launch a bug-bounty project in H&H to decrease chance of possible future conflicts like this one. Just imagine how cool it would be to have a rare hat of a bug-hunter in game on your char.

i agree, we should delete palisades, after all you can get caught in a non visitor gate as well. only the strong will survive
What amazes me more than how light the punishment was, is how nothing was done about it ingame. I'm actually starting to think people are frightened that you'll do it again, so to protect the server, they work with you instead of going against you, all in the hopes that you will leave the server alone.

not “ad hominem,” I didn’t call WB a collection of whiny hermits too lazy and entitled to learn pvp, afraid of their own shadows, l2 miners, plots full of q41 tobacco, overpriced market with fake currency, having to buy weak-faction-tier gear, small pp nematode energy

only highlighting the validity issue of “reporting” a ““bug”” with the explicit stated purpose of nuking an enemy village - pvp via crying to daddy

If you guys spent half as much energy training fighters as you did astroturfing forums snail would probably run scared from ur army since you clearly have numbers

btw this is as much of a “bug” as boat cheesing or really killing Trolls or Whales at all (devs have directly stated there is no intended method to kill them)
