My subscription ended and I have no weekly game time

The worst monsters in the Hearthlands warp the fabric of space and time...

Sure, that's a good argument. I'll consider it.

Renewing it by the month costs more money, though... so people "needing" to use up their free time between subscriptions still nets you more cash.
Come back two hours earlier.

I agree with this. I have the money and I just bought another subscription, but what if I didn't get paid until friday? Even as a paid player depending on when the subscription ends, I am not even eligible for the benefits of a free player which is the 7 hours weekly, until the following week.

My feeling on this is that I had 20-30h of free time left when I spent money on the sub, and now I've lost that free time. I wish I had waited a couple of days before spending money on the game now.

I think it would be better to have the situation be that I don't feel like I've lost something by giving money early.

So you actually tried this and got the 'no gametime' message from the default client?

Client used* shouldn't matter because it's recorded based on when you log into the server. (Loftar could have coded in some weirdness to fuck with those using modded clients. Otherwise, I'd say it doesn't matter at all. :P )

*edit: clarified my poor grammar.

Question was to make sure that it isn't a 3rd party client issue.

Sorry for the poorly worded statement above (I updated my post to read a bit clearer), but how would a 3rd party client even matter in this case without some finagling from loftar on client verification and such? The client doesn't update the play time, the server does, and as long as the server gets a valid login, the play time will update. Given loftar's reluctance in the past to put in checksums for client verification (authentic or modded), I doubt he's going to do it now without announcing it or the modders spotting it.

No idea, but i think it's better when player takes 1 minute to make sure an issue really exists before Loftar spends time trying to debug something that dosn't.

Subscription ate my free time?

Postby VDZ » Fri Oct 02, 2015 10:49 pm

I bought a subscription way before my initial free time ran out (I think I had like 8 hours remaining, possibly more). My subscription just ran out, and suddenly I am unable to log in - a look on my Account page shows I have no free time remaining.

This can't be intentional, can it? I don't really care much about the free time itself (I'm going to renew the subscription anyways), but it feels wrong that my decision to support you guys before my time ran out was punished by removing my free time. (If I had waited until my free time was almost up I'd have at least two more days of subscription now.)

Well, the nature of the phenomenon and the reasoning behind it are described here. As stated in that thread, however, I am considering changing it; if for no other reason than that it doesn't seem to be what people were expecting.
