Game closes shortly after loading up and playing.

Have installed the windows update, can't reproduce the issue though.

Have Intel CPU and NVidia card through, could be your combination.

Options that come to my mind:
- Check if there is an update for your video driver
- The windows update has created a restore point, you could rollback the system to it to check if the problem is really the update.

Please let it run for a test, the garbage collector should kick in and drop it back to 700MB or so every few now and then.

Regarding 32bit java: check Functions and Programs in the control panel. In case you see Java 32 bit -> deinstall, reboot, install http://javadl.oracle.com/webapps/downlo ... eId=216434

Or deinstall all java, reboot and then install the 64 version - to be sure.

Reinstalling Java doesn't work. When i launch game my memory goes up by 2-3Gb, but there is still 2 Gb free.

Video drivers already updated. No change.

Windows Updates are disabled, so I didn't receive any of those either.

Nothing overtly changed on my system from the time I shut it off this morning to the time I logged in tonight-- no updates, no new software, no strange websites visited. How long does it take for the garbage collector to kick in? It's been sitting at 1.2 GB usage for a couple minutes now.

Also, I'm using the 64-bit Java jp2launcher. Traced the directory via the process properties.

On my system it reaches ~1.5gb (with 32bit, with 64 bit java it stays around 750MB) and then the GC runs.

You need to actually remove the 32 bit version of Java for webstart to use the 64 bit version.
Add the command line to the process list in taskmanager (view, select columns), in case you see Program Files (x86) for the jp2launcher.exe you're running it in 32bit.

all of these are exactly the same for me. the launcher worked fine literally 3 hours ago. i have not updated or restarted my OS or anything else to my knowledge in the past two hours, and i have not changed or installed anything else. the game immediately fully utilizes its memory and CPU allotments within a few seconds of loading the world, but my GPU monitor would tend to indicate that it's barely flinching even though the RAM and CPU are about to melt. the only thing different here is my use of 32 bit java, but that doesn't seem to be the cause of the issue

Please try uninstalling all 32bit java versions and run it with 64 bit.

I've tried running the client from both a 64-bit browser with 64-bit Java and from a 32-bit browser with 64-bit Java, and neither one has made any difference to my problems. I'm definitely running the 64-bit version-- it traces back to Program Files, NOT Program Files (x86).

Since I'd really like to play, is it possible to use a custom client in the mean time (Endor, Amber, etc) to get by until this issue is resolved?
