Mostly because people have been burning Garden Pots in Aurora's Public Kiln for a while and this never happened. So it felt something was off.
I went to CF to try and figure it out and I guess I found the issue - it's not a bug at all, just weird game behavior - so here's the issue (and the solution) for Tuz and the others at CF :3
The issue is about Field Cairns
With all the public stuff in Aurora, I've kind of got some experience with those nasty little buggers, but it's beautiful what you can achieve with them :3
Now, I don't know the exact coverage of the cairns in the CF Kiln area but I'm assuming they're like this:
(grid and tree hiding activated to make it clearer)
The relevant one for this matter is the green one.
Now, I'm pretty sure that it ends right on the edge of the kiln because I dropped an item (a clover) right in front of the kiln to test it out and couldn't pick it back up - which means that the Theft Area ends on the kiln.
Now, this is a problem because of the way the game works, Rummaging perms - the permission to LIFT objects - considers not the source of the object (like Theft perms) but your character's position. Which means that you CAN'T lift something, even if that something is INSIDE rummaging areas, if YOU are outside.
As an example:
This is exploited to our advantage in Aurora to allow for Public Cauldrons:
Here the Cairn area has Rummaging allowed. You can't lift the cauldron, however, because no character itself can fit inside the Cairn area. So lifting the cauldron - even inside a rummaging area - is not possible because the character is not inside that same rummaging area. This is done so because Rummaging perms are needed to fuel the cauldron.
So what is happening in CF is that players are retrieving their Garden Pots, which is a "lift" action, but done through a "Theft" action (removing something from inside a container) and that is messing up the game logic because you CAN steal from inside a container but you CAN'T lift if you're not inside the rummaging area.
So... The solution:
Build a new Field Cairn but make it one tile longer, in a way that players are inside a rummaging area when interacting with the Kiln.
That cairn can have Trespassing, Theft and Rummaging and still be perfectly safe for users and CF, and allow people to retrieve items dropped by accident AND their garden pots
That's all
I hope it helps! :3

Relogging?
Might be more successful as you should have lost visitor then.
Nevertheless, the devs have a PM regarding this.

Kind of, at least. Fixed for next patch. Also included a fix to always allow for the dropping of the item type in question -- finished garden pots.
