Why is that even a feature then?

Because you can transfer ownership of the claim if you so desire.

wouldn't that happen through bandy? Why allow access to that item inside of somebody elses study window?
Also, why allow take backs when trading this way with the re-claim option? it seems like that really hurts the trade mechanic.

( you will have to excuse my ignorance, I was not aware you could even move the thing around within your study window until this post)

You don't have to keep it in your study at all. you can manually refill your claim. Unless you have an extremely large pclaim, it's actually better to keep the study full than to leave the bond there to auto-fill your authority.

I agree the system isn't intuitive, but that's why we've set up and try to keep the wiki up to date. Reading the manual when you don't know what something is is always a good idea. Even when you think you know the system, re-reading the manual can be a big help in keeping track of changed systems.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

trust me magic, had I known about this... that thing would have been alt locked in a character we dont even use. I would never place it in a study window knowing now that not only can it be stolen, it can also be dropped.

we have read a lot about the game in the wiki, but this game is huge. we obviously did not understand anything about the bond of blood and soil, since we thought it was bound to the owner as the name suggests.

  1. Find agree upon location and all players travel here. Estimated time: 1-2 days.
  2. Create all new character in new location and start from scratch. Estimated time: 3 weeks.
  3. Wait for new world and then employ strategy #2. Estimated time: 1-2 years and 3 weeks.
Your choice of strategy #3 is very bold move!

you are forgetting the part where we would be 3 weeks behind everyone else starting over. We already had metal and this world has proven super cruel to newly founded claims at least on the western continent.

option 1 isnt possible without a knarr.
option 2 requires all of us to have the fortitude to start off and stay behind everyone.(meaning just as much harassment, or more)

I do not mean to cause offense by say this, but I suspect that player who will have his claim stolen from him is likely not playing game with maximally optimal strategies. You probably were already behind best players before losing this claim. You can have metal in couple days, this is not very hard for getting.

I mean, you can do what you will want and this setback I am sure is bad for morale. But really, I think it is not beyond recovery. Game must still be fun to play if you are not best player on server, or else only one man would be able to play!

the goal was not to be the best, just to stay within the average of players. best players will always be on top, we just want to be on par with the neighbors around us and be on equal footing.
