I've just lost all hope about playing the game on mac...

I tried running it on VirtualBox with all of XP, win7 and win8 and neither worked because VirtualBox can't into openGL (problems with the virtual graphic card and whatnot), and ended up setting up a bootcamp with win8 and it is working as expected. Switching around both is kind of shitty but whatever, I needed my custom client.

I'm running windows 7 through bootcamp and all the clients work fine. Was using default client in OS X but the uber lag from un hidden crops made me switch over. Had some problems when i tried using the wrong java but that was all.
(once and futue king btw)

I managed to make it run with Java 6, but client is still very slow and consistently crashes on game start. Seems like some kind of OOM.

Has any mac person been able to log in since the update on 10/26? I had the old default working, then I got amber working, but now I'm trying to run the default client and am getting requests to update java, then "unable to launch" errors....:(

edit: nvm it's working now. I went back to the old java again.

here's the download link from earlier in the thread: https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1572?locale=en_US
Did you check the thread from the beginning? Second post (I think it was, maybe 3rd) had a link to the solution later in the thread. There's a few more steps to it, so you should probably check it.

Did you go through the steps outlined in the link earlier in the thread? It is at the bottom of the first post. viewtopic.php?f=47&t=39840&start=20#p530419 Reports are that it doesn't work for all. (Probably should have linked it in my last post.) If it doesn't work for you, you'll have to run a second bootup with Windows or Linux.
