PVP before Rage, Bug? or intended..

Shot myself a boar today. thing is he ran away.
So whilst chasing down our boar my friend and i initiate combat by use of a punch.
said friend decides to cut in front of me and instead of hitting boar i hit friend.

could this be intentional as we were both inside of party and kin.

if this is an intentional aspect could this be used to exploit hitting other players by use of an animal you aggro. trap another player or whatever and punch the chicken or frog through the player thus causing damage before rage has been aquired?

kinda need to know because that just made me fear a few locals if they know if it..
(which now they probably do since i made it public)

food for thought.
gonna test more tonight using chickens and other small critters

This was, for the record, probably you noticing that you can indeed attack on a claim without skills. Intended.
