Teathered animal become unteathered after a fight. And after re-teathering it reset tame count i assume?

That shouldn't be the case, for sure. If anything, hitting the animal again after it has "given up" resets its tameness. I can't really think of anything else that would cause it to reset.

Fighting always cause animals to become untethered, though. Are you sure you didn't just get the normal tameness tickup?

Otherwise you might, indeed, have hit it past it giving up. Please try again and report back. Keep good track of your tameness score if so.
