Just had a leather backpack crafted for me, and while shift clicking it to get it on from cupboard to inventory to equipment window the backpack completely vanished without a trace. I was inside a house, it is not on the floor, on me, or in any cupboard.
EDIT: while putting a birchbark backpack back on, I found the leather bag, sitting in my now-extended inventory but half cut off. I'll leave this here because it seems to still be a bug. You can carry items in extended inventories even if you're not wearing a bag.
