Stonestead door hitbox

Postby Felkin » Sun Sep 13, 2015 10:21 am

It feels broken, like from certain angles I can't click on the door to enter the house. Often it's nearly every angle and it takes up to 20clicks from all directions to actualy get it. I think the hitbox might be messed up a bit. Should just peek at the model and hitbox and check if they're matching right.

EDIT : after playing around with it : it seems that the hitbox is the top 1/3rd of the door only and everything bellow just doesn't react to right clicks. Would be a really quick and easy fix to make it easier to access the shed, cause atm it's quite annoying.

EDIT2: NVM, It's completely random. Can't reproduce a constant effect to determine the hitbox, it's like it's changing every time I enter/exit the house.

Many hitboxes are very broken. Cellar, palisade gate. etc.

I found all the other ones I've come across so far to all be fine-ish. Just the stonestead one feels 10x worse. I'll be able to compare the cellar in a few hours.

At least for the 8x5 houses the door handle on outside isn't part of the door hitbox.

What do you mean by "hitbox"? There is not additional specification which determines where one can click on the model, apart from the material applied.

There is a general bug which causes clicks to sometimes be ignored at certain angles, or something. It is obscure but fairly common, and does not apply to any specific object. I would wager that this is what you are experiencing.

What i ment was that right-clicking directly on the door handle would give no reaction, while right-clicking the door - even through the hole in the handle - would move to it and enter. Just tested it again, seems to work now.

Inconsistencies:
While outside only the door (and handle now) are hotspots (maybe a better word than hitbox) to enter, the doorframe is inert.
Inside: door including frame is hotspot.
