Basically the screen goes black but I can still move around and use the UI. I'm using the vanilla client. My java is up-to-date. Its been doing this for awhile (2 weeks) and I've gotten tired of it.

Also you cannot plant grass on plowed land or dirt. You can only plant grass on paved tiles....

Try clearing you java cache and relog. Does this happen all the time or every now and then?

Happens about twice a day. I'll be walking and it will randomly turn black. I guess the map data isn't loading. But it fixes itself when I relog.

I've noticed similar things myself. Might be java's apparently shitty cache implementation, might be something else. Will investigate.

I'v been having the exact same problem but it's been constant for about the same amount of time, re-logging doesn't help. The weird thing is I can walk south from my home and have no problems, but if i keep walking north it will constantly do it at random intervals. It loads eventually but takes about 8-10 minutes every time it does it.
