Lifting while on the boat

I was seeing a lot of screenshots that people are lifting something on the boat, maybe this is how it rolls and its already fixed(?) but i lift a dead animal during our hunt. My internet is doing all this chineese laggy stuff, so i think there was some moment between lifting and right-clicking on the boat. anyway. here it is.

Why shouldnt you be able to lift while on boat?

It is intended that you should be able to carry things while in the boat. Is there something else going on that I am missing?
