Server Side Data Corruption? Failures to Access Character

I've had a bug that has me a bit worried, not a gameplay bug but something that makes me worry about server side data integrity.

After the most recent crash I logged in twice on my farmer alt account, PM if you need the account details, a few moments before this post will be recorded, and got the spawn fairy screen. It was only on my third log in that I got to the proper character screen and was able to use my character. Each attempt followed a successful connection to the server, and everything seems fine for now, but if it happens again I want to establish this first occurrence. I presume that if this is an issue of data integrity it would impact more than one user and be readily identifiable, if not, it was certainly strange.

I sometimes am stupid, tired or both and just automatically click the biggest button on the screen after login (you know, the requester be gone autoclick learned from years of clicking away requesters), ending up in character creation since the biggest button is the new character one.

But as you describe it you see yourself as a fairy thingy, just after clicking the login button, having clicked nothing else?

Yep, automatically progressed to it after the login button, no extra clicking. I don't even have the option to create a new character.

Sounds odd. Hard to follow up on. If you have no characters on the account the game always bypasses the character selection screen and assumes that you want to create a new character, which indeed I think is reasonable as such. That should not happen if you do have characters, though.

You need not lose sleep over data integrity -- loftar I am sure does that enough for all of us -- A far more likely explanation is a bug in the condition that checks for available characters, or whatever.

Take an aspirin and get back to us if it keeps happening?

If it is after sent crash it could be a race condition in case the server loads the profile asynchronous, since everyone is logging in the load might take to long and timeout. </wildspculation>
