Leeches can possibly displace equipped items.

Leeches can possibly displace equipped items.

One of my villagers found a badger vest lying on the ground in the town square. I opened my equipment window and realized it was my vest, in the slot where I had worn it there was now a bloated leech!

I had visited a swamp sometime earlier and had likely picked up a leech or two, so what I suspect happened is that when the leech changed to bloated, some glitch put it in the wrong slot, which made the item currently equipped there drop to the floor. Luckily for me this happened where someone could easily find it, and it wasn't something particularly valuable. But there seems to be a risk of losing very valuable, hard to replace gear this way.

Interesting. Will investigate. Thanks.

Saw in another thread that someone was getting leeches out of a swamp and one had knocked off their cap, I believe it was. viewtopic.php?f=42&t=42118&p=552401&hilit=fishing+leech%2A#p552401

Loftar denies that this is possible.

Does Loftar have any other explanation for how equipped items can drop off without having the equipment window open?

User error?

Idk. I'm not saying that this didn't happen, but loftar was very firm in his refusal of the possibility. It certainly does not happen trivially by just standing in the swamp and gaining leeches at least, so we'd need some steps to reproduce, confirmations, or something else to go on.

User error is of course possible. But that would require me to have opened the equipment window, clicking on the vest and dropping it on the ground completely without remembering it. Then going to the swamp, acquire a leech and waiting for it to get bloated, all in less time than it would take the vest lying on the ground to despawn.

Again, not saying it didn't happen, just that there isn't much to go on, unfortunately. If anyone has confirmations or steps to reproduce that'd be great.
