Input lag

Postby MOldAr » Wed Sep 16, 2015 12:57 pm

So here is my problem:
even though my connection to the server should be good enough, as this picture shows, the in-game lag between my click and the server's response is very noticeable and is significantly longer than 90ms. Tried running the game on my laptop, and I still get this strange lag. So it's not my connection, not my system, not the server obviously, since no one else is complaining. So what is it then? Could it be my router?

Perhaps. Paged loftar.

You haven't mentioned what kind of hardware or software you have on both machines. I know triple buffering can cause input lag on some systems. Maybe your graphics options are forcing triple buffering for OpenGL? It might be worth checking it. ATI's Catalyst has it on by default. (I don't recall the options in nVidia's control panel.) If you have the same brand hardware in both machines, it would definitely be a possible cause.

Do you experience lag only in server actions, or also in interactions that are local to the client, like opening the inventory window and such things? If the former, then it's clearly some kind of network trouble (if unclear just what), while if it's the latter, then it might be triple buffering or something like that, as MagicManICT said.

Interestingly I also have the same/similar issue.

I experience input delay for actions like moving and shooting but no real lag for opening inventory windows and such.

Is there a way to check ping?

edit: by input delay I mean delays of up to a second for every action. Makes moving and hunting quite the task.

Would a ping of 170ms result in my half second to one second input delay?
