Straw disappeared from bee skep construction

I started building a bee skep after finally reaching 10 straw, however after i started the construction I then went away for 30 minutes the straw count was 0/10.

Whats going on here?..

Decay, most likely. It is random, and can strike suddenly.

I wonder if it could be possible to make somekind of protection for newly placed signs. So they wouldnt take decay hits in first 1 hour or so.

Just curious, was the construction sign on a claim? Does it matter?

Nothing should be decaying on claim unless it explicitly tells you, like the loom does.

I'm thinking anything I'm going to build off claim I want to finish immediately and based on what you said on claim construction shouldn't get decay hits, right?
