Armor missing after server crash?

Probably not a bug, but just in case: My village-mate and I haven't logged in since the server went down for 2 hours yesterday. When we logged in today, we found we're both missing armor off our bodies; I was wearing a boar helm, leather armor and leather pants, all of which vanished and my friend was wearing a leather armor and leather pants, of which only the armor has disappeared. I was fighting a bat immediately prior to the crash, but I was out of aggro when the server went down; is it possible that the bat managed to take out three pieces of my equipment and I didn't notice? Otherwise, has anyone else lost items from the crash?

I would wager a bet that the bat ate it, but if anyone else has problems then feel free to tell me.
