Aggressive horse bug?

So I was hunting with my friend, he was on a horse, I was on foot. We came across a fox which I shot. His horse then kicks my friend off (he didnt take damage) and starts battacking me. Idk if this is a bug, or the horse was too close when I shot the fox or what, but thought I should mention it in case

You most likely shot too close to the horse, indeed.
