Why do crops not finish as the same time

Postby raindrops » Wed Sep 30, 2015 1:44 pm

Everytime I plant crops, they all finish so far apart. Sometimes even hours. This doesn't make sense to me.

I assume there's a beehive around. Beehives can boost growth of only so much crops. So if you have too many crops then some of them might not receive the speed boost from a beehive

Jorb stated previously that there's some rng involved in growing stages, so its perfectly normal, with or without beehive.

Not a bug. They are randomized, and the various crop types have varying growth times.

It's not a bug, but it's incredibly frustrating to see a field fully grown except for 2-3 tiles, forcing you to either wait or further the growth difference by replanting them later when they do grow

Growth times have always been somewhat random, though. I'd have half my field of hemp as buds and half of it ready to harvest for fibers to make into cloth in previous worlds.

Bud stage lasts an hour at most though. With this new system the varience can end up so that all but 4 tiles of barley are harvestable and won't be untl the next day, all planted at the same time

Kinda needed when paired with how beehives work. If crops all turned over in a burst the beehives would get overwhelmed.

They need to be unrandomized

A few minutes random I don't mind much for larpy reasons but hours is horrible horrible. Especially if one crop hides inside the field not done and then you can't replant the field at all until that one is done or you risk mixing seeds and stuff. Gah.
