Planted tree quality drops after chopping

Postby Necroliter » Thu Oct 01, 2015 10:18 am

Soooo, we planted some trees. Some of them were not worth it, so i decided to clear the base and chop them down. To my surprise quality of the trees seems to be 50% of what Inspect shows me.

12/16/8 was the initial tree inspect, it was quite a big olive, but it was not tasty, so i decided to cut it down.
And then both Log and Stump have quality 6/9/4. And yes, indeed, woodblocks got that quality.

My best guess is that it dropped in quality cause it wasn't fully mature... Needs more testing and confirmation.

Growth stage has an effect on quality from what I can tell, just like in legacy. Immature trees will yield worse quality than fully grown trees.

I estimate the tree to be at ~80% of it`s full size. I`ll try cutting down fully grown tree today.

The question is - inspect is working as intended and showing Q of last tree stage or ... ?

Indeed.

Indeed, fully grown tree keeps it quality. I was confused by the inspect, but oh well.

Can be closed then :) Or submerge into depths of bug-forum.

Indeed.
Then maybe inspect tool should report effective quality? And even growth stage...

Resuming this bug thread though. Is it intentional, that any thing you take from tree (branch/leaf/bough/fruit) have the maxed-out Q despite it can be taken at 20% of growth? In Legacy branches and stuff were the Q of growth stage, not the Q of the final stage.
