Seeds planted together not "batching" properly

Postby Sevenless » Fri Oct 02, 2015 6:25 pm

According to the description, if I remember correctly, seeds planted together within "5 hours" should get the same quality when harvested.

Testing with this, I got three different qualities that were all very similar. 15/11/13, 15/10/13 and 16/10/13. This was done via manual planting the seeds within a minute or two of each other and different results were from the same stack of seeds even. When batch planting via the shift+rclick on seeds, they all seem to come out the same quality. Furthermore, the 5 hour concept doesn't seem to be functioning properly. I've planted seeds 30 minutes apart and consistently get significantly different results.

I'm not sure what's a bug, and what's a modification to the system if it hasn't been talked about publicly though.

Will investigate.

The "5 hours" doesn't mean that they are "re-randomized" at intervals of five hours. Rather, the results do change contiguously but slowly (over both time and space), and the measure of 5 hours is about the time it takes for them to be completely unrelated to the values they had 5 hours ago.

So the system is even more annoying than we initially believed?

Oh that's a pretty neat way of doing it, and it probably explains this issue does it not? The problem being anyone who decides to plant a field by individual clicks gets in trouble due to seed stacking. I've been tinkering with the system and the replant>test>wait>replant/test again concept to use for quality grind.

Overall I'm not sure I like the concept of test plant, if bad return in 5 hours concept for quality grind. It's a functional system, but it's pretty fiddly and IRL time managementy from the players perspective.

Still no idea if any of this was modified in the update. Thanks for the explanation loftar.
