Lost seeds to EXP pop up?

I went to go plant some seeds since I finally found some carrot seeds, but they disappeared from my cursor when the "Sowing Time" pop up came up. Can't find them on the ground, they're not 'invisible' in my inventory as far as what I've heard from shift-mouse wheeling items into another container and back... x.x

Are you aware that planting costs five seeds per tile?
Testing cannot reproduce. Need additional steps, or confirmations.
