except is not decayed, i butchered it, and was a matter of minutes: dropped with skin, changed alt, no skin but still butcher it.

The message was to ward off the evil you mentioned.

Did you check the threads? I bet this problem connected with concurrency

First step of animal decay is that the skin vanishes, next time it'll trigger it'll *poof*, afaik. Loftar can certainly tell more.

Oh, ok. Good.
I used
Code: Select all
echo 'USE="-systemd"' >> /etc/portage/make.conf; emerge @world
which worked better than crosses, at least for me.

Loftar, out of curiosity a peek behind the veil please: do you do concurrent game data updates (via threads) in the server?

I found a dead deer in the forest today, close to a swamp, the skin was already gone. While transporting it to my boat, I read the message, server will be shut down in 3 minutes. I put deer on ground and logged out. Logged back in after 15 minutes. Placed deer in boat. Continued to explore for a few hours. Hearthed back home. Moved deer from boat to lean-to temporarily. After 15 minutes, tried to butcher deer but the radial command to butcher doesn't appear. I still have the deer.

I'm pretty sure I've stated multiple times that the server is single-threaded. For the record, by far the single biggest hurdle to parallelizing it would be to prevent deadlocks.

I used to use Gentoo, and USE-flags are among the things I miss the most from it. Debian is just so nice, though. :)

Debian also fully supports a systemd-less system, though; the only pity is that some packages depend on libsystemd.

there was a bunch of other animals real close together, i assumed they moved and interrupted the butchering

Monsters. Monsters everywhere.
“We still, alas, cannot forestall it-
This dreadful ailment's heavy toll;
The spleen is what the English call it,
We call it simply, Russian soul.”

An idea to consider: Tedium, a Feature.
