can't drop soil at the base of some cliffs

when I attempt to drop soil, the character just stands there, and if i try to shift-right click the soil on a different spot, the character is still locked in place.

It's the problem with those diagonal cliffs. You see them going like this / while in reality they are _| (you'll see it if you try touching the cliff and moving near it. Not sure what's the word for that.).
Would be nice thing to see it fixed somehow but for now you can just drop dirt on the next tile to where that cliff ends and it should be gone.
Just try it on some tiny cliffs. When you'll understand how to remove one of those it'll be as easy to remove as the normal straight cliffs.

And by drop soil you mean shift+rightclick to add to ground, right? Rather than drop from inventory to ground, quite simply?

Try that last part, btw. Does it decay to ground?

was attempting solely with shift-right click. will try dropping units of soil.

Sometimes if you get close to a cliff, you can get in climb mode which stops you from doing most anything but going up / down or shimmying along the edge.

i just dropped soil at the base and let it decay but there are still some cliff tiles around i can show you, come visit me
