Quality of the Silk Eggs

Postby LadyGoo » Sat Nov 07, 2015 5:59 pm

I have been working with silk selection for a while and have noticed one weird thing about the mechanics: when you breed the silk moth they are most likely to produce eggs with 1 dominant quality rising. However, the other 2 qualities will go down, although I feed them with higher quality leaves and use higher quality tables in all aspects (essence, substance, vitality).
Is this how it is suppose to work?

I look at all threads. No need to please me.

There is certainly no design that produces the effect you are describing. The stats are randomized, quite simply. If anything you are deceived by the RNG.

I will, however, look at how it works more exactly.

Suspect that you are being deceived by randomness. There is no intrinsic bias here.

I can confirm there is no overall bias. The average quality seems to raise about 2 points each generation. If anything, I've noticed the wild swings in quality from noob breeding with LQ tables and leaves has stabilized somewhat, with all three qualities about 5 or so points apart compared to qualities like 15/1/8.

How did I even Q1? I have no idea.
Come back two hours earlier.

I had many Q1 moths when I first started silk. With q13 table and q10 leaves, it seems the possible negatives are at least -5. I haven't paid as much attention lately as I don't have leaves high enough to progress, but I don't seem to get very many positive eggs.
