In legacy it used to increase your Tradition slider.

With Current mechanics it could be possible that wearing it while dying would allow you to inherit some of the ancestor's Learning Points. Testing shouldn't be too hard, give it to expendable alt that has some LP and kill it with starvation to not lose the Heirloom.

Is the assumption family heirloom has nothing to give? Is its usefulness has not yet been added to the game / lack of ideas for usability?

The latter two. I only implemented the graphics when I was sitting down working off the list.

Sometimes I dont understand why you implement stuff like wine, family heirlooms.
You made entire tree so we can make winebottles and stuff. But wine does nothing :(

Because they were in Legacy, of course. We just haven't gotten to the effects yet.

Willing to bet the started implementing wine, but then hadn't bothered getting around to wine effects yet, but needed the vinegar for cheese. They decided to shortcut the whole vinegar production by doing the stale grapejuice. Thus, we have wine, but no effects.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.
