Hnh client is coded very badly. Lot of performance issues and bottlenecks. Good computer doesnt really help with them.

"lack of optimization" does not mean "coded poorly." This is the nature of pre-release software.

If you're expecting 60 fps out of your rig, lower your expectations. I don't think anyone is getting more than 20-30.

I get 60 fps with simple crops, and gfx settings off (aa, shadows, per fragment lighting) on an overclocked 2500k and 760. If you the same settings then you have a problem.

Obviously massive lategame villages drop it a bit, but they don't exist in w9 yet.

Huh, I get 60 FPS all the time, occasionally 50 FPS when it gets real busy on the screen. However, it does cause my laptop to heat up to scary levels (I've seen it go to 97 degrees celsius). Only other game I've found that does this is Civilization V, which is notorious for being poorly optimized.

I'm sure getting 60 at most points in the wilderness, at least. That's on an i5 2400 and a GF 750.

The issue is with draw calls, far too many material look ups each frame. Turning on flavor objects results in a jump from 400-900(ideal) towards 3000-4000(insane). No amount of hardware is going to make a difference.

:!: Loftar, are you guys using a single texture atlas for all the flavor objects, and using a single material?

you guys could double the game population if this game had normal performance

try to setup a modest machine for testing purposes

60 fps is easy. But if theres any more objects around fps will lower. Because its coded badly and handles places with lot of gobs badly such as villages.
Lag is probably caused by way the game handles all objects etc.

Well his cpu is 5 years old and was midrange at the time, and his gpu is low-mid range from two years ago. I'm not sure how much lower specs you'd realistically expect in a "modest test rig"?
