Boulder ore smelt chance seems wrong

I'm starting to suspect the smelting ratios don't apply to boulders at all. I have smelted three batches of 25 Black Ore and one batch of 20 Black Ore, all mined from boulders; according to the wiki it should have an ore-to-bar ratio of 30%, but two of the 25 batches and the 20 batch all netted one bar, while another 25 batch netted only Gneiss. Meanwhile, I have been smelting Cassiterite (also listed as having a smelt chance of 30%) mined from a cave node, and I'm consistently getting at least 5 bars per batch.

It's really frustrating, as you can barely do anything with metal until you've made an anvil + hammer, which costs 7 iron bars. I'd need to find a third, and probably even a fourth boulder to get that.

i'm getting pretty strange results as well. entire batch of magnetite, nothing. batch of heavy earth, 3 bars. it seems all over the place.

same here....my bloodstone is yielding 1 bar a load.........thats insanely low no matter how i look at it

I dont see any bad. You are just unluky. + that 30% are from old wiki. Mabe they edit somfing. But if you get from 25 only 1 then you get only that 1 lucky 30% i dont cry for that . There were i live . I have mountain +5 cave .

Tbh, my experience has been ok from boulders and an increase on last world in mined ore, so far I have had no full smelters of gneiss ...

From black ore boulders, with no stats or relevant skills, I have had 1 bar from the first lot, but that was a mixed batch with copper and I got mainly copper, 3 from the 2nd batch, all blk ore and 3 from the 3rd batch, all blk ore.

With mined ore I've been doing great! So much better than last world that I thought they had increased the ratio.

Three bars out of 25 ore is 12%. At a smelt chance of 30% you should be getting 7.5 bars per batch, on average. The fact that your 'lucky' batches net only three serves only as further evidence of this problem, unless Black Ore was nerfed hard.

Yeah, maths has never been one of my strong points, it's still an improvement on my success from last world though by far, which explains why I thought it had improved.

This isn't about skills, this is about base smelt chance. As it is now, boulder-mined Heavy Earth seems to have the same smelt chance as boulder-mined Black Ore. Is that really intentional?
