Taming progress reset

Postby Procne » Sun Feb 28, 2016 2:28 pm

During the last week I have started taming some animals. Everything was normal till saturday morning - i fought with animals every now and then, when they were ready, and kept increasing taming progress. Couple of them have already been succesfully tamed by then. Then I didn't log in until sunday afternoon (now). After I logged in couple more animals were ready for a fight. However after starting the fight, the moment the animals received damage the taming progress was reset to 0 (yellow 0 appearing along with the damage number). After dealing enough damage the taming progress wasn't increased, but the animal started to run. I have 2 more animals ready for a fight but I'm afraid to lose them too.

You probably missed a taming window, causing the animals to go feral again.

That might be the case, but isn't it a bug then, that the animal was in combat stance?

Arguably.

Testing can't reproduce. Need more steps to reproduce, or more instances. The animal should only have its aggro stance when ready for taming, or in combat.

Sometimes I think that you should go to them in person at main server if they know how to reproduce it.

Happened to me as well. Sheep was at 95, was expecting to enter combat mode late at 11-12, logged out at 4 still no combat logged in at 10(6 hours later) and the sheep was in combat. Did the standard procedure, but instead of taming it (was at 95) i got a 0 and the sheep kept attacking me. I have already tamed 2 sheep so i know the procedure, i am not sure what is the time window for the combat (i have given you the times above)

It hasn't happened to me again since I reported it. I assume that in the original case it was as you said - I was offline for over 32 hours and probably missed the taming window. There were other people around, so the area was most likely loaded most of the time - can animals change their stance while the area remains loaded? Or does it happen only when the area is being loaded?

Loading should not affect their taming window being set, no.
