No cutting tool required for carving meat

When you go to carve roast meat of a spit, you need no cutting tool equipped.

I think everyone has assumed this is intended as roasted meat pulls apart by hand, no knife needed.

Cutting tool should be required to carve meat out of it.

I presumed everyone assumed, but "carving" implies a tool.
