sheep keeps getting out

Postby synaris » Thu Mar 24, 2016 3:38 am

yeah we have a sheep its roundpole fenced in and it somehow keeps getting through said fence. i havnt actually seen it occur but the damn thing has been outside twice just today. now, 3 tiles of this fence has been replaced with a feed trough for easy feeding. i cant fit my character through it and the bull in the same situation has not been able to get out.

is this a bug or am i overlooking something?

then the aesthetic is all ruined... also are you positive thats even the problem? as i said, neither me or my bull can get through that...... well its not a "gap" cuz nothing can get through.....

still i guess ill try something else and see if that fixes the problem

Suspecting that pathfinding problem is due to inexact object coordinates. Will be fixed when floating point coordinates are introduced.

This has nothing to do with pathfinding.

This happened to me as well, with the feeding trough and all. Shift+b on Amber's client shows that sheep hitboxes are pretty skinny. Get the trough as close as possible to one segment, then stick a crate or something in the remaining space. This doubles as a convenient way to store rope and things, too.

Sheep have a very narrow bounding box. They're squeezing through the gap between your food trough and the fence

chair in the space also makes for a convenient way to get in and out of the fence without opening the gate

Most likely this, and I don't want to increase bounding boxes if I can avoid it.
