Sling-Can kill other player without rage

I realized after playing with my friend that he was able to shoot me with his sling and start melee combat with me. (Ended up killing me ) I don't know if this is normal as I've never tried this in any other world. If it is then well, this is pointless. Let me know if this is a glitch.

We were sparring and he thought we were still sparring. He spammed the sling and punched me once and I died.

I died 2 days ago for the same reason. We ended one spar, we started another and I died.

A claim owner may defend his claim without skills, and those with trespassing permissions may as well. Not seeing a bug here.
