Tried with a piece of a dried deerhide and it would not let me put it into the tub

didn't he also say it was something that should probably be able to be done, but would be some point in the future?

Ya It doesn't make much sense to tan pieces of a hide which in turn would be pieces of torn leather.

Not a bug. Might change at some point but it is as intended.

Hide patches cant be tanned?

Doesn't mean one couldn't make leather out of it. After all, the process of drying and stretching is complete.

Have a feeling this is more of a feature request instead of a bug issue.
